Update on my Go Goals

I have checked off my first two Go Goals. The first was to get familiar with a new enclosure, 3-4 with a two-space high extension. The second was to get a lot more comfortable with the 3-3 invasion on a 4-4 corner. I am considering these goals achieved as my rank rank has held stable.

I love the enclosure from my first goal and now play it exclusively in all my serious games, as black at least. I’m still trying to figure out what works best for me as white.

My new Go Goal is to better understand the 3-3 opening. I created a new account on OGS, reverser3-3, a week ago and have reached 3kyu with it. I was a bit surprised by this rank, as I thought it to be too high, but I think it only shows that 3-3 is a struggle for my opponents as much as it is for me. I will consider this goal to be achieved when I reach 1kyu with this new account. After that, I will probably experiment with a 4-4 and 3-3 combo and then also the 3-4 and 3-3 combo to better understand how they are different from the double 3-3 that I am currently learning.

And, further down the road, I am looking forward to doing something similar with the 5-4 and 5-3 openings.
